What a great last two months of Wind!

Well so far it has been another incredible season in Baja! The fishing has been great, wind has been excellent for Kite boarding and all the great people down here equal one healthy equation for happiness.

IN RECENT ADVENTURES...
I chartered a boat with three friends yesterday out of Bahia de los Muertos, we went fishing off the south end of Cerralvo island or now (Isla Jacques Cousteau) for some of the strongest fighting fish available this time of year. We Hooked Up! We caught two Yellow Tail (Great Sashimi fish and hard fighting), One really big Sierra, a Bonita Baraletti (Big Tuna), and a Pargo Perro or (Dog Snapper).

Ill post some pics of the Adventure and Previous Speardiving Adventures that we went on through the Month of February.

Here is a Picture of a big Yellow Tail, these fish fight so hard!

These are a couple of Pargo Perro or (Dog Snapper) that i shot off of a secret dive spot.

This is a 6' Moray Eel that we shot in a cave at about 30' underwater, it took two guys to pull it out of the cave and a couple of spearguns. We made sushi and barbecued it later, it was delicious!

Jose Geraldo was the captain the day i caught that big Yellow Tail, here is a quick picture i snapped of him catching sardines with a large throw net. He is a true pro.

Heres a shot of a really clean wave I caught over in Todo's Santos. Thanks for your photo skills Kim.

Cara caught a nice big Sierra the same day I caught that big Yellow Tail, I think Cara's fish fought harder than mine!

Another One Bites The Dust!

So I wanted to post these pictures up because i felt it necessary to share such a great catch with everyone. My friend Dalaney Overstreet and I cruised out with a group of Mexican Speardivers to a remote spear-diving site in the Sea of Cortez. We were diving in 30 to 40 feet of water in an at first crystal clear day that later turned turbid with swift wind and quick currents. The Good News... We got a fish! A 25 lb Pargo in fact, this is possibly one of Dalaney's largest fish, and proof that more are on their way to the boat!

Its been awhile, since October!

Hey Everyone!

I Have been Kiteboarding or Speardiving almost every day since i last posted. Nothing but non-stop action! In this area of the Sea of Cortez where i camp, it's calm in the morning and windy in the afternoon. This works great for a combination of diving in the morning, when the ocean is clear and calm, and Kiteboarding in the afternoon when its windy!

We have found some great places lately to take our little inflatable boat to spear larger fish. Ive managed to shoot a couple of nice sized Pargo in the 8 to 10 lb range but have yet to land a 30 lb plus fish! The trick with speardiving is time spent in the water and we have been spending many hours in the underwater world which is so beautiful here.

The Pictures below are mostly from the month of November and a couple are from December.

First pictures are of the various different fish we have speared in November/December.

These Next pictures are of Javi and I and our Boat the little Belafonte or (Belafontido), purchased with a government grant strictly for Ocean Research and exploration we use the small craft to explore Mexican waters and harvest fish solely for research...

The next couple shots are of friends and various other stuff, our friend pictured with the fish below goes by the name of Dorado Dee Dee and lives up to her reputation, one day she had over 6 fish on and landed 2 of them. Amazing!

Dorado Dee Dee!

Made it to La Ventana!

Hey Everyone,

So Javier and I made it to La Ventana successfully and safely, the day we arrived was a beautiful 85 degrees out and nice palm trees everywhere. We launched our little 10 foot rigid hull inflatable boat the first morning and had three strikes from unknown fish, the next morning we went out again, we had a strike within 10 minutes of trolling and had hooked/landed a nice sized Dorado not long after the first strike. The boat is running great now and were planning on catching bigger fish soon!

Thanks for tuning in and ill post more fun adventures/pictures soon.

Last post from the US.

So over the last two days my friend Javier Dale and I have driven from the Oregon border to the border of Baja Mexico! Tomorrow morning we will be heading across the border and finding our first camping spot! Were hoping to make it to "The Wall" which is just about an hour north of Guerrero Negro. We didn't run into any trouble getting this far, our spirits are high and were preparing for the next great adventure.

By the Next time i post a blog i hope to have a video to post about our Fishing Adventures! I may even get a good Spear diving video!

Cheers,
Brendan

Getting Ready to Head South!

Happy Halloween,

With winter nearing so nears the winter kiteboard season in Southern Baja. Its been a great summer season in Newport OR and now its time to head down to La Ventana to teach friends Kite boarding and practice my moves. We are pulling a Truck and Trailer and scored a little 10 foot boat to fish and dive off of. This should be an excellent season!
